We’re counting down the days until Saturday, Sept. 30, when poets and musicians take the stage for an Open Mic at Old Books on Front Street. Please bring work that takes a hopeful spin on issues of peace, social justice, and the environment. This doesn’t mean you can’t be angry or passionate. We’re simply asking for work that offers a glimmer of hope (or more, if you’ve got it), rather than pieces that wallow in despair.
And if you’re not a poet or musician, then come to listen and support!
Here are a couple of Exquisite Corpse collaborations that were created last Saturday, as part of the lead-up to the big event. We experimented with a couple different techniques and, as usual, found the resulting poems to be surprising and delightful.
